She later legally changed her first name to Lalisa, which means “one who is praised.” Lisa auditioned for South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment in 2010 at age 13. She was the first international trainee for YG and the only person selected from 4,000 auditionees in Thailand. At age 14, she moved to South Korea alone, despite not knowing the Korean language. After five years of rigorous training in dance, singing, and language, she debuted as the main dancer, lead rapper, sub-vocalist, and maknae (youngest member) of the K-pop girl group Blackpink on August 8, 2016.
